agnès b. opened her first art gallery on rue du Jour in 1984. At that time it was adjoigning the women store. In 1996 the Gallery moved to a bigger space but kept its name “La Galerie du Jour”. In 2001 a book store opened at the entrance of the gallery. The “Galerie Du Jour”, is a contemporary art gallery specializing in photography. Agnès b. shows from time to time the work of her grafitti artist friends…As well as organising collective exhibits (A New New York scene, Draw...) Sidibé, Mike Lash, Jonas Mekas, Harmony Korine, Robert Estermann, Pierre Reimer, Hughes Reip are some of the other artists associated with the gallery.
Winner of the 2011 agnès b. Friends of the Beaux Arts prize, Claire Chesnier investigates a poetics of painting. Papers suspended, freed from the cloth, give at once a feeling of lightness and grace. Abstract, sometimes vaporous, sometimes rigorous, [... ]
